OPERA WORCESTER (formerly Great Witley Operatic Society), staged its first production in 1952 and since then has become renowned for the quality of its productions and its ability to attract singers from across the region.
Now ‘Opera Worcester’, the society decided to introduce Grand Opera into its repertoire in 2016 by tackling Carmen. This move heralded a bold and ambitious step forward in the history of the society. Since then, the society has presented ‘The Magic Flute’, ’‘The Marriage of Figaro’ and ‘Cavalleria rusticana’ and ‘I Pagliacci’ to great acclaim.
We attract aspiring young singers and give opportunities to sing opera, in some cases, for the first time.
We remain committed to providing high quality productions, seek to build membership by offering new and varied challenges and build on and entertain our established and valued following.
Our repertoire remains varied, offering musicals, Gilbert and Sullivan, light opera as well as Grand Opera.
