Opera Worcester are excited to welcome you back from September 2021!
Enjoy singing and fancy taking part in our opening concert?
…then we invite you to join the Opera Worcester Community Choir!
You don’t have to be able to read music and if you just enjoy singing and socialising, why not come along?
The sessions will be led by our musical director Wilhelm Theunissen (right) and will include music from the shows. The Choir will meet monthly.
The first session will take place on Saturday 4 September at St Marks Church, Orchard Street, Cherry Orchard in Worcester from 12.30pm to 2.00pm.
The Community Choir will also play a small part in our opening concert on 4th December (please see details below).
Each session costs £5 and refreshments will be provided but please bring your own mug!
Fully Covid Compliant

Are you a more experienced singer, or do you have other skills?
We are always looking for new singing members and seek to offer a range of performance and learning opportunities throughout the season.
Our first rehearsal on Monday 6th September is the first time we have all got together to sing in nearly 15 months. Consequently we want to celebrate this by having a general ‘Come and Sing’ of favourite pieces, and everyone is invited – old, current and potential new members alike! Please come along.
The session will begin at 7.30pm at St Marks Church Hall in Orchard Street – if you arrive late, don’t worry – just follow the singing! We rehearse every Monday and would love to welcome you. Music will be provided.
Even if you don’t sing you can still be involved. We are in great need of non-performing members: if you are interested in helping backstage or with costumes, props or publicity, or have other skills that you would like to share with us, please get in touch by emailing chairman@operaworcester.uk Perhaps you might even like to become a member and join our committee!

Where do characters come from?
Due to the overwhelming popularity of Anthony’s initial workshop, he has kindly agreed to provide another day session.
Whether a principal or chorus member, performance of any kind is based on character. If you do not have a clear understanding of your character, then neither will the audience and everyone has a role to play in bringing a production to life.
This session will look at how the creation of character and characterisation starts with the words we are speaking or singing and how this informs our imagination.
Aimed at experienced performers and newcomers alike, this workshop will explore how much words can reveal to us as performer and how, coupled with our own knowledge and life experience, these elements combine to create a believable character onstage.
Saturday 9th October 2021, Perdiswell Young Peoples’ Leisure Club, Droitwich Road, Worcester WR3 7SN : 10.00am – 3.00pm
Tea & coffee will be provided but please bring your own mug and lunch.
