After 3 months, Opera Worcester’s new community choir is proving such a success that the society are keen to welcome new members to their joyful Saturday lunchtime singing sessions!.

On the first Saturday of every month since September about 30 – 40 people have met regularly to enjoy singing, led by Opera Worcester’s current MD, Wilhelm Theunissen

NOTE – The session on Saturday 4 December is cancelled due to our concert at St. George’s Church being on that day.  The next community choir is on Saturday 8th January 2022. 12.30-2pm. St. Marks church, Bath Road, Worcester.

Opera Worcester Chairman, Caroline Causier explains:

“After the restrictions of the last year, people have really enjoyed the chance to meet with others, have a cuppa and a good sing. We’ve had some fabulous feedback and Wilhelm is so great at making the session relaxed and enjoyable.  We sing songs from the shows, popular songs, and with Christmas around the corner, it’s now carols.

There is no need to be able to read music, we just provide the lyrics.  People have enjoyed themselves so much they want to meet more often so in the New Year we are increasing our meetings to twice a month.”

Opera Worcester have introduced their community choir in order to provide a range of music that everyone can enjoy. 2022 will be the society’s 70th birthday year and they are planning a series of events to raise the profile of the society,

Caroline continues: “Our aim is to inspire and educate when it comes to music and singing and so we’ve planned a year of concerts, workshops, a production, and of course the continuation of our community choir which has proved really popular.

We offer something for everyone so I urge people to explore our website and get involved during this very special year of celebration .”
