The Director is Anthony Ravenhall and Musical Director is Richard Jenkinson, both professional actors and musicians respectively in their own right.
It is set in the European Principality of Marsovia, in the 1930’s, where they are undergoing somewhat of a crisis! One of the country’s principal landowners and bankers has died, leaving his fortune to his recently acquired young wife. She in turn has left for Paris, where the young men of that city of romance are all vying for her hand. Should she marry a Frenchman, or indeed any foreigner, her money will not only leave Marsovia but leave it broke! The Grand Duke hatches a cunning plan, he immediately commands the Marsovian Ambassador in Paris to find her a new suitable husband, Marsovian of course! Amongst the glamour of the fashionable Cafe Maxim’s, trysts are arranged, deception is rife and sleight of hand (or fan!) is the order of the day. Can Ambassador Popoff arrange a suitable match or perhaps will true love succeed where duty and honour cannot?
Welcome to the Cafe Maxim, where with an on-stage Musical Ensemble this adaptation of the popular Operetta, by noted Librettist Basil Hood, will be directed by Anthony Ravenhall, Musical Director Richard Jenkinson.
